The story
Ironside Electrical wasn't started because electrical contracting was an easy business to enter. It was started because the standard in residential electrical could be a lot higher — and the background to raise it was already there.
Background
Ironside was founded after nearly two decades of electrical and controls engineering across some of the most demanding environments in the field — Navy electronics, defense systems, healthcare infrastructure, and industrial automation.
18 years of naval electronics. Radar systems, navigation, ship-wide electrical infrastructure. Earned Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist qualification. The foundation: discipline, documentation, and getting it right in environments where wrong means mission failure.
Electrical and controls work supporting defense systems and naval platforms. Complex integration work requiring precision documentation, system-level thinking, and zero-defect execution standards.
Controls and automation for large healthcare facilities — environments where system reliability directly affects patient outcomes. PLC programming, SCADA integration, and hundreds of field devices managed and documented across complex campuses.
Controls and automation lead managing production line systems and electrical infrastructure in a large industrial facility. Inherited underperforming systems and rebuilt them into reliable, documented, high-performing operations.
The same engineering discipline, applied to residential electrical in the Charlotte metro. The only difference: the client is a homeowner, not a government agency or Fortune 500 company. The standard doesn't change.
The standard
Four things that don't change regardless of job size, neighborhood, or client budget.
We design the system before touching a wire. 18 years of controls experience means we see the whole picture — not just the outlet in front of us.
Navy discipline. No shortcuts. No callbacks. Work done right the first time because the standard is non-negotiable on every job.
EVs, smart panels, home automation — we wire for what the home becomes, not just what it is today. The infrastructure decisions made now matter in ten years.
We tell you what you need, what it costs, and why. No upsells, no confusion, no invoice surprises. You'll know exactly what you're getting before we start.
Honest positioning
Ironside serves homeowners who want electrical work done right — not homeowners who want it done cheapest. That's not an arrogant statement. It's a practical one: the engineering approach, the documentation, the system-level thinking — these things take time and cost money.
If your first question is "what's the lowest price," we're probably not the right fit. If your first question is "will this be done correctly," we are.
Describe your project. We'll tell you whether we're the right fit and what it actually takes to do it right.
