18 years of controls and automation expertise. Licensed NC electrical contractor for commercial and light industrial work up to $60K. We design the system — then we build it right.
What We Do
Select the work that matches your project. Our commercial and industrial capabilities are the core of what we do — residential services are available for clients who need them.
Our focus. We serve HVAC mechanical contractors, general contractors, small manufacturers, and light industrial facilities throughout North Carolina. If your project crosses from rough electrical into controls or automation, we are the one call that covers both.
MCC panels, PLC integration, VFD wiring, control stations, interlocks, and field commissioning. We design the circuit before we touch a wire.
Controls SpecialtyEquipment installation and hook-up, 3-phase service, machine circuits, panel replacements, and production line electrical for manufacturing and fabrication facilities.
IndustrialElectrical sub services for mechanical contractors — rooftop units, controls wiring, VFDs, motor connections, and code-compliant electrical coordination on your schedule.
SubcontractorNew circuits, panel work, lighting, and specialty circuits for office and commercial tenant improvements. Inspection-ready installs, clean documentation.
CommercialLevel 2 EVSE and DCFC prep for commercial properties, fleets, and parking facilities. Panel assessment, circuit design, permitting, and utility coordination. 30% federal tax credit available.
Growing SectorCommercial standby generator installation, automatic transfer switch (ATS) systems, load analysis, and code-compliant hookups for facilities that cannot afford downtime.
CommercialAvailable for residential clients. The same engineering standard we apply to commercial work applies here. Charlotte metro homeowners who want a system designed properly — not just wired to minimum code — can call us directly.
Panel replacements, service upgrades, circuit additions, whole-home surge protection, and grounding. The foundation — done right the first time.
Home charging stations assessed, designed, and installed correctly. Panel capacity check, dedicated circuit, overnight charging — done once, done right.
Smart lighting, thermostat integration, whole-home automation rough-in, Lutron, Control4, Z-Wave. Systems designed to work together — not just boxes on a wall.
New construction wiring, full and partial rewiring, aluminum wiring remediation, knob-and-tube replacement. Clean installs, documented properly.
GFCI and AFCI upgrades, recessed lighting, ceiling fans, under-cabinet and outdoor lighting, security lighting. Every detail held to the same standard.
Electrical inspections, code violation corrections, generator hookups, transfer switches, hot tub and spa wiring, dedicated appliance circuits.
Why Ironside
Most electricians wire what you ask for. We design what you actually need — then hold a Navy-grade standard through every phase of the job.
18 years of controls and automation experience means we see the whole system — not just the junction box in front of us. We design before we wire. Every time.
No shortcuts. No callbacks. Work done right the first time because the standard is non-negotiable — on every job, regardless of size or client. That discipline does not turn off.
We handle both the rough electrical and the control panel work. For GCs and mechanical contractors, that means one sub instead of two — and no coordination gap between them.
You deal directly with the person making the decisions, not a foreman or project coordinator. If something comes up mid-job, you have the right number to call.
Engineering Proof Point
Before Ironside, Montie Fowler solved a first-of-its-kind engineering problem: making double-decker buses commercially viable as sleeper coaches in the U.S. market. That meant designing shore power integration, dual-deck power distribution, per-berth circuit architecture, and full U.S. safety compliance — from scratch.
No blueprint existed. The system had to work because there was no acceptable alternative. That is the level of thinking we bring to every commercial and industrial job.
About
I started Ironside because I kept seeing the same problem: contractors who install what you ask for without thinking about what you actually need. The panel passes inspection. The system still fails six months later.
"I design the system before I touch a wire. That's not extra — that's the minimum standard for work worth calling quality."
Eighteen years in controls and automation taught me to see a job as a system — inputs, outputs, failure modes, and all the things that happen between. The Navy taught me that standards are not negotiable and that the people who depend on your work deserve your best on every single job, not just the big ones.
Ironside is built to serve commercial and industrial clients in North Carolina who need an electrical contractor that can cross the line from rough electrical into controls work — without bringing in a second subcontractor. That is the gap I am here to fill.
